Walker stated that orders from Seibold were that Sam's parents were not to be involved in negotiations, despite Sam only being 16 at the time.

The five year jersey sponsorship deal continued the positive momentum for Australian rugby after Saturday's thrilling Super Rugby AU grand final was watched by a crowd of 41,637 at Suncorp Stadium and 464,000 on Channel Nine.

The new Wallabies strip is the same colour as the famous 1991 jersey from Australia's first Rugby World Cup winning squad.

Rugby Australia is hoping to give their top earning Wallabies sabbaticals to prevent the player exodus overseas.

McGregor, 32, was defeated on his return to the Octagon in January in his sole MMA outing of the last 12 months. The Dubliner tops the Forbes list in his second appearance in the top 10, having been named fourth in 2018 after his fight with Floyd Mayweather.

"Adding in his endorsements, McGregor made AU$202m outside of his fighting career over the last 12 months, becoming only the third athlete, after Roger Federer and Tiger Woods, to earn more than AU$90m off the field in a single year while still actively competing," said Forbes.
