🚨 Police have arrested a man following an attack on a referee that was captured on camera.
NSW Police have confirmed they are continuing to investigate the incident, described as an alleged assault of a referee which happened at a Men’s Premier League football match between the Greenacre Eagles and Padstow Hornets on Friday night.
The Daily Telegraph first reported the match official suffered a broken jaw and had four teeth knocked out as a result of the attack. He is being treated after being taken to Liverpool Hospital in south west Sydney.
The newspaper reports the alleged attacker was a suspended player who attended the match as a spectator.

🏀 The Australian Boomers’ FIBA basketball World Cup (held in August) hopes have received a major boost after being drawn in a favourable pool group.
The Boomers are locked in to face the top two finishers of Group F (Slovenia, Georgia, Venezuela, Cape Verde).
This means Australia could face Luka Doncic’s Slovenia in a quarter-final, which would be a replay of the bronze medal game at the Tokyo Olympics.
All three pool games will be played in Okinawa, Japan.
🏆 Sydney FC underlined their status as the most successful A-League Women club after thumping Western United 4-0 in the grand final to claim a fourth championship on Sunday.

⚽️ Barcelona manager Xavi has compared 15-year-old Lamine Yamal to Lionel Messi after he made his debut for the Catalan giants.

⛳️ American Talor Gooch beat Spain's Sergio Garcia on the first play-off hole in Singapore to claim back-to-back titles on the LIV Tour.
Gooch and 2017 Masters champion Garcia birdied the final hole to card four-under 67s and finish on 17 under.
They replayed the 18th and Gooch tapped in for a birdie to claim the victory. Gooch has pocketed AU$12m for two weeks work, not bad.

After Australian former world champion Bec Rodriguez failed in a bid to regain her title due to a sickening cut above her eye, the main event between former UFC champion Luke Rockhold and UFC veteran Mike Perry ended in stunning fashion.
Then Perry called out a ring-side Conor McGregor, who marched to the ring – carrying a BKFC belt - for a face-off and a war of words.
“It’s an incredible set-up. Incredible match-making. Incredible storytelling ... I flew straight away. I was not gonna miss this and it did not disappoint.

Speaking of the BKFC belt he was wearing, McGregor declared: “Come get it baby. Come get the strap baby!”
