Winx to be a mum — and owners of the wonder mare are likely to keep hold of the foal.

The owners of champion Winx are expected to confirm she is successfully in-foal to super sire I Am Invincible in the coming days.

If the scan is confirmed, Winx will give birth next October.

Her owners Debbie Kepitis, Peter and Patty Tighe and Richard Treweeke, are not expected to sell the resultant filly or colt whose value would be unlimited.

Winx was retired earlier this year with 37 wins from 43 starts. She won 33 straight races, remaining unbeaten from May 2015 until her final race in April.

Lionel Messi admits it’s ‘a shame’ to see Liverpool forward Sadio Mane finish fourth in the Ballon d’Or rankings for 2019. Messi admitted he voted Mane.

Romelu Lukaku & Chris Smalling: 'Black Friday' headline 'terrible' - Roma

The headline accompanied pictures of Roma defender Chris Smalling and Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku prior to Friday's match between their two sides.

"The intention of the newspaper article was actually positive," said Roma chief strategy officer Paul Rogers.

"But this headline has totally overshadowed the anti-racist message contained within the story."

In a social media post, Inter said: "Football is passion, culture and brotherhood. We are and always will be opposed to any form of discrimination."

Adam Scott insists his Australian Open hopes are not up in smoke despite making his worst start to the tournament in nine years.

Scott refused to use the thick blanket of smog hanging over Sydney as an excuse for shooting a 75 at The Australian GC to sit at four-over-par.

The former world No.1 sits a distant 10 shots behind a pair on unheralded amateur leaders, Japan’s Takumi Kanaya and Taiwan’s Yu Chun-An (65). (Foxsports)

Players at the Australian Open have complained of stinging eyes as toxic smoke from bushfires around Sydney affected the opening round.

Sydney's air quality index registered on a par with Beijing, forcing New Zealand golfer Ryan Chisnall, who is asthmatic, to don a face mask.

Smoke has blown over from huge fires that have raged for more than a month.

"It feels like I should shove a bit of salt water up my nose or something," said Australian number one Adam Scott.

"I must admit my eyes are stinging but you know I honestly feel for the people [nearer the fires], because we're feeling it down here 100 [miles] away.

Round 2 is now underway...

Summer Slog: Tiger ordered to ‘eat dirty’

Wests Tigers backrower Luke Garner has been forced to turn to junk food in order to gain weight.

The 24-year-old played 14 games in his second season of NRL, but knows he needs to bulk up further if he’s to take his game to another level and even push for representative honours.

“First of all I’ve got to put on a little more weight. I’m a bit light for a back-rower now at 98, 99 kilos,” Garner said.

“I spoke to trainer the last week and he said ‘you have to eat dirty’.

“Over the weekend I just had chocolate, pizzas and burgers. I put on a little - about a kilo-and-a-half - but there’s more to go, I'm looking for 4kg.

It’s on! Tim Tszyu weighs in, says he’ll ‘do Australia a favour’ against underdog Jack Brubaker

Tim Tszyu and Jack Brubaker have successfully weighed in for their main event of Friday night’s blockbuster pay per view from Sydney.

Tszyu (14-0) and Brubaker (16-2-2) will fight tomorrow night on Main Event for the IBF Australasian super welterweight belt, while other fighters from a packed undercard also weighed in including ex-Queensland and Australia star Justin Hodges (2-0) ahead of his bout with fellow former NRL player Darcy Lussick.

Andy Ruiz Jr v Anthony Joshua II: Preview

Who wins the biggest rematch of 2019 as Anthony Joshua aims to reclaim his belts against Andy Ruiz Jr.

The second fight is a tough one to call and good cases can be made for both fighters. Many pundits and the books fancy Anthony Joshua to take revenge, with the big Brit currently the $1.50 favourite whilst the Mexican champion has shortened into $2.94.

It seems many observers have bought into the idea AJ either underestimated Ruiz Jr or was not himself on the night. This is unfair to the Mexican who boxed very well and exposed flaws in Joshua that have been clearly on display in previous fights. Shorter fighters throwing counter or lead left hooks have caused AJ problems throughout his pro career.

Notably, both Whyte and Povetkin hurt AJ with the left hook and AJ’s always struggled with shorter fighters slipping inside his jab and throwing looping counters.

Anthony Joshua says he is "punching like a horse kicking backwards" and holds "no fear" going into his highly anticipated rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr.

At a charged news conference next to the Diriyah Arena where the two fight in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Ruiz, 30, warned there is "no way" he will lose.

Joshua added he will weigh in lighter than the 17st 9lbs he posted before his New York defeat as part of a new plan.

Socceroos set to face Lionel Messi at 2020 Copa America

The Socceroos are one of two invitational teams participating in the 2020 Copa America alongside Asian champions Qatar, who were drawn in the "north zone" group hosted by Colombia. That group also contains reigning South American champions Brazil, as well as Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador.

The new format allows for four teams from each group to progress to the quarter finals and Football Federation Australia are slightly more confident of reaching the knock-out stages after the draw which saw the Socceroos avoid the searing heat and altitude of Colombia.

In being pitted in Group A, the Socceroos' games will be played in the Argentinian winter which is a similar climate to Australia at that time of year.

Ruined Castle: CEO’s stock rock bottom after crumbling on Folau

How can she sack a player on "principle", preach about the importance of “inclusiveness”, talk about her code “standing for something”, insist that RA has “a strong legal footing” … and then slither out the back door of mediation for the sake of “moving on”? (SMH)

Castle has denied reports RA paid Folau $8 million, which lines up. Why would it settle for that amount and also apologise? The figure is likely to be between $2.5 to $5 million, according to one source familiar with the case.

The settlement was met with bemusement in Folau and Castle’s old game of rugby league.

Some club powerbrokers are certainly interested in signing him, despite new chairman Peter V’landys declaring there is no place for Folau in the NRL.
