🎾 World No. 1 Ash Barty reached her sixth final of the season as she defeated Angelique Kerber 6-2 7-5 at the ATP and WTA Cincinnati Masters.

The top-seeded Aussie, who has led the ranking table for the past 82 weeks, needed an hour and 15 minutes to move into the title match, surpassing her semi-final showing from 2019.

🎾 Daniil Medvedev complained he "nearly broke his hand" after colliding with the broadcast equipment at the back of the court. After Medvedev demanded the camera be immediately removed. He then kicked the camera before going on to lose the match.

🥊 Manny Pacquiao lost on his return to the ring after a two-year absence as Cuba's Yordenis Ugas upset the odds to win by unanimous decision and retain his WBA (super) welterweight title.

Ugas was only drafted in on 10 August for the Las Vegas fight to replace the injured Errol Spence Jr.

It's likely he'll now retire.

🚴🏼‍♀️ Damiano Caruso became the first rider to claim a mountain stage on two different Grand Tours this year as he won stage nine of the Vuelta a Espana.

Defending champion Primoz Roglic came second to increase his overall lead to 28 seconds.

🚘 Toyota's dominance of the Le Mans 24-hour race continued as they secured victory for the fourth successive year.

The Japanese manufacturers' two hypercars finished first and second at the Sarthe Circuit.

⚽️ Dele Alli scored his first league goal in 17 months and Harry Kane made his long-awaited return from his extended summer break as Tottenham maintained their 100% start to the season at Wolves (1-0).

⚽️ Manchester United failed to build on their opening day demolition of Leeds United as Southampton earned a fully-deserved draw at St Mary's. (1-1).

Week one of the Toyota AFL Finals Series has been locked in with four massive clashes to take place in South Australia and Tasmania. 

It all kicks off on Friday night when Port Adelaide hosts Geelong at Adelaide Oval in a repeat of last year's qualifying final. 

Melbourne's reward for winning its first minor premiership since 1964 is a Saturday night clash against Brisbane at Adelaide Oval.

Sydney and Greater Western Sydney will face each other in the finals for the third time with the crosstown rivals to meet at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston on Saturday afternoon. 

And Essendon will be chasing its first finals win since 2004 when it faces the Western Bulldogs at the same venue on Sunday afternoon.
