🔵 New South Wales coach Brad Fittler has made a number of huge selection calls in naming a new-look Blues squad for the State of Origin opener.

Fittler's squad features six players who are yet to make their Origin debuts - Stephen Crichton, Nicho Hynes, Ryan Matterson, Jacob Saifiti, Joseph Suaalii, and Kotoni Staggs, with two mainstays from previous Blues campaigns, Josh Addo-Carr and Jake Trbojevic, left out.

🚴🏻 Jai Hindley became the first Australian to win the Giro d'Italia as the 26-year-old eased home on the final-stage time-trial.

Hindley, who had lost the 2020 race on the final-day time trial, had snatched the pink jersey and an 85-second lead from Richard Carapaz on Saturday.

Ecuador's Carapaz went out hard but could not strike back on the individual race against the clock in Verona.

"It's a beautiful feeling. A lot of emotions out there," Hindley said.

"I had in the back of my mind what happened in 2020 and I wasn't going to let that happen again, to be honest. To take the win is really incredible.

"I was getting updates and I felt pretty good on the bike. I didn't feel like I was fighting it and I knew it was a decent ride."

The Super Rugby Pacific tournament has today confirmed the eight teams that have qualified for the quarter-finals and the matches that will be played next weekend Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4.

The final and eighth position on the ladder was not confirmed until the very last match of the regular season when the Highlanders secured a losing bonus point in a 30-31 loss to the Rebels in Melbourne to edge out the Western Force for the last quarter-final place on a higher aggregate points difference from all matches.

🏎 Sergio Perez won an incident-packed, wet-dry Monaco Grand Prix after his Red Bull team outfoxed rivals Ferrari.

The Mexican rose from third to the lead during a part of the race in wet conditions after the start was delayed for an hour after a downpour of rain.

Red Bull's strategy also vaulted Max Verstappen from fourth to third, behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz but ahead of the Dutchman's title rival Charles Leclerc.
