G'day sports fans,
Classic quote: "Two sausages at tonight's barbecue!" – Wallabies hooker Phil Kearns raises the fingers to a prone All Blacks opposite Sean Fitzpatrick after scoring a try in the 1990 clash in Wellington.

Richmond 80 (12.8) St Kilda 49 (6.13) - Tigers by 31: Next stop, prelim: Tiger train back on track as Saints' yips return. What looked like being a comfortable night for Richmond after a five-goal opening quarter blitz was anything but, as St Kilda fought until the death. (match report)
The Saints' off-season starts with five player delistings in the wake of their semi-final loss.
Geelong 100 (15.10) Collingwood 32 (5.2) - Cats by 68: Cats crush insipid Pies to reach prelim. Patrick Dangerfield has dominated many big games and many finals before. But usually they haven't been from full-forward. Dangerfield was the centrepiece of Geelong's semi-final slaughter of Collingwood on Saturday night. (match report)

Jordan De Goey could be the AFL's next million-dollar man, but Kane Cornes says that would be a gross overpay.

Roosters 18-22 Raiders: 'More than a team': Ricky's resilient Raiders keep the dream alive (match report). Eels 24-38 Rabbitohs: Rabbitohs Cook up 30-point blitz to pile on Parramatta pain (match report). Roosters 22-12 Warriors: Defensive effort shows Roosters they're ready for Broncos (match report). Roosters playmaker Zahara Temara had the ball on a string to score a try and kick three goals but it was their efforts to hold the Warriors to nil for 55 minutes that left Feeney (coach) more impressed.
Broncos 18-4 Dragons: Smile and error: Broncos into decider but Wright rues mistake rate (match report) The Broncos did it the hard way en route to their second victory of the season against a gallant Dragons outfit who lost Kezie Apps and Isabelle Kelly to serious leg injuries.

French Open: Rafael Nadal beats Novak Djokovic to win 13th Roland Garros title
Nadal equals Federer's record of 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles

Spanish second seed Nadal outclassed world number one Djokovic in a 6-0 6-2 7-5 win, which clinched a record-extending 13th title at Roland Garros.
Questions had been asked about 34-year-old Nadal's level, but he responded with an almost flawless performance.
With this win, Nadal now has 13 French Open titles and a career record of 100-2 at Roland Garros
Top seed Djokovic, 33, lost a completed match for the first time in 2020.
"A win here means everything for me," said Nadal, who also became the first player to win 100 singles matches at Roland Garros.
"Honestly, I don't think about the 20th and equalling Roger, for me it is just a Roland Garros victory.
"I have spent most of the most important moments in my career here.

Supreme Teen
Polish teenager Iga Swiatek completed a stunning rise by becoming the lowest-ranked woman to win the French Open after beating American Sofia Kenin.
Swiatek, 19, is a former junior Wimbledon champion but the world number 54's rise to Roland Garros history has been swift and surprising.
She showed few nerves to beat fourth seed Kenin 6-4 6-1, lifting the trophy without losing a set in the tournament.
"I don't know what is going on, I'm so happy," a smiling Swiatek said.
Swiatek is the first player from Poland to win a Grand Slam singles title.

Footballer turned rapper Joey Champness has signed a one-year deal with Brisbane Roar after returning to Australia from the US. Newcastle are frustrated because if Champness was to return to the game within three years, he’d do so at the Jets. [SBS]

Sydney kits will stay the same and Adam Le Fondre will go to India on loan for his final year of his Sydney FC contract, after receiving a lucrative offer from Mumbai City.

A-League to India
Indian clubs are moving in on the A-League, especially Australians, because of the AFC rule of 3 + 1, where you can field a maximum of three non-AFC-nationality foreigners and one from an AFC nation, which Australia is. While the rule will not be applicable domestically until next season, this is smart planning keeping that in mind. Besides, it is already a requirement for AFC competitions where Goa, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Bengaluru will represent India.
Another intangible factor that increases their appeal is that their ability to adapt would be accelerated thanks to English - a lingua franca that is used more widely than most Asian tongues in India.

BLEDIS-WOAH! Wallabies denied 19-year miracle win as 60m kick hits post

New Zealand 16-16 Australia
New Zealand: (Barrett, Smith tries; Barrett pen 2)
Australia: (Koroibete, Daugunu tries; O'Connor pen 2)
Iaone's foot in touch for their first try, offside after Hodge hit the post?...Unlucky, the better side, Australia denied.

The Wallabies came within one right upright of snapping their 19-year hoodoo against the All Blacks in New Zealand, as they secured a famous 16-16 draw at Wellington’s Sky Stadium.
After 89 minutes of play, it was first time since 1962 that the trans-Tasman rivals finished level at full-time.

White & Daugunu impressed most. On debut, Daugunu was the best player on the field.
He continually beat the first man, powered through impact, was solid under the high ball, won his side an onball penalty and scored the Wallabies’ second try.

Marsh Sheffield Shield
Queensland’s Marnus Labuschagne has plundered a classy century in his first innings of the 2020/21 Sheffield Shield season against Tasmania.

Tasmania’s fielders dropped three chances before Labuschagne reached 50 at Gladys Elphick Park in Adelaide, and the Australian No. 3 ensure they rued the early errors.
The 26-year-old was eventually dismissed by Beau Webster for 167 in an innings which included 17 boundaries and two sixes.
It was Labuschagne’s 14th first-class century, and first in the Sheffield Shield since March 2018, about six months before his Test debut.
“When you’re not playing a lot of cricket you don’t get that so it was nice to get that rhythm and a bit of time in the middle.”

West Coast Fever have booked a second grand final appearance and ended the Sunshine Coast Lightning's dynasty with a 73-59 preliminary final triumph.
The Lightning have won two titles and contested three grand finals since their 2017 debut but their stunning sequence ended at USC Stadium when the Fever qualified for next Sunday's season climax against the Melbourne Vixens in Brisbane.
The Fever conceded the most goals of any of the finalists during the regular season – more than seventh placed Adelaide – but it was their defence that set the context for the preliminary final. (match report)

Lewis Hamilton wins the Eifel GP
Equalling Michael Schumacher's record of 91 Formula One victories!
Hamilton completed the feat in 261 starts in comparison to Schumacher's 306.
There are very few stats left for Hamilton to chase. He now has 160 podium finishes compared with Schumacher's 155, 96 pole positions to the German's 68 and 155 front-row starts compared with his idol's 116.

Daniel Ricciardo, who finished on the podium for the first time since 2018
"It's been a while. Honestly it feels like the first podium all over again.
"I think it's been over two years, the feeling is good, still fresh. So happy and it's great to see everyone. We've all waited a long time for this, so I think everyone is going to soak it up."
On Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul getting a tattoo: "It's real. It's going to happen! We'll have to do some thinking now. It's probably going to be something to do with me, but with a German flavour, as this is the place we did it."

🏀 NBA Finals 2020: Expect big performances from LeBron James and Anthony Davis
Just looking at the Lakers' depth, their history, their record after losing a game, their star power, I think they will close out the series. LeBron has been here so many times and experience goes a long way in these situations.
The Lakers have to be concerned about Jimmy Butler heading into Game 6. He was absolutely incredible in Games 3 and 5 and has really risen to the occasion in this series.
The thing with the Lakers is they never lose two games in a row. In these playoffs, they are 4-0 after losses. And they won those bounceback games by an average of 10.75 points. That's huge.
