🏉 A controversial refereeing decision in the final minute of play led to the All Blacks clinching a pulsating 39-37 win, ensuring they retain the Bledisloe Cup for another year.

The Wallabies, leading 37-34, were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute only five metres out from their goal line, with fly-half Bernard Foley opting to kick for touch.

Having already warned Foley about delaying tactics, referee Mathieu Raynal judged the Wallabies' playmaker was wasting time as he prepared to send the ball into touch and sensationally awarded the All Blacks a free kick, from which they took a scrum.

The All Blacks won the scrum and sent the ball right, with Jordie Barrett crashing over in the corner after the full-time siren to seal the win.

🥊 Paul Gallen has made history, beating Justin Hodges after being knocked down the same night he defeated another former NRL star in Ben Hannant.

Justin Hodges blasted the referee’s decision to wave off the fight as “bull” as Paul Gallen proved too strong for the former Maroons star, but the pair immediately agreed to a rematch.

🏏 Australia World Cup winner and vice-captain Rachael Haynes has announced her international retirement. 

The 35-year-old batter has been a key player for the all-conquering Australians, winning two 50-over and three Twenty20 World Cups, plus gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Having made her debut in 2009, Haynes played 77 one-day internationals, 84 T20s and six Tests for Australia.

📺 Plans to dramatise cricketer Shane Warne's life in a telemovie only months after his death are "beyond disrespectful", his eldest daughter says.

Nine Network - where Warne worked as a commentator for over 20 years - reportedly began work on the project weeks after his death in March.

It says the two-part 'Warnie' film will be a fitting tribute.

But his family and friends say the show is insensitive and want it scrapped.

🎾 Roger Federer, one of the greatest players of all time, will retire from top-level tennis after the Laver Cup in London this month.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion has not played since Wimbledon 2021, after which he had a third knee operation.

"My body's message to me lately has been clear," Swiss Federer, 41, said.

"I have played more than 1,500 matches over 24 years. Now I must recognise when it is time to end my competitive career."

He added: "To the game of tennis, I love you and will never leave you."

Only Spain's Rafael Nadal, with 22 majors, and Serbia's Novak Djokovic, with 21, have more men's Grand Slam singles titles than Federer.

⛳️ LIV Golf chief executive Greg Norman has accused the rival PGA Tour of "trying to destroy" his series.

Norman said his Saudi-backed series was designed to live alongside the existing golf tours, and he has made several attempts to negotiate with the PGA.

However, the Australian, 67, said all his approaches have been rebuffed.
