🏀 B'Ball

‘He’s done’ — LaMelo Ball’s NBL stint has come to an end

Ball’s manager and trainer, Jermaine Jackson, confirmed to foxsports.com.au that the point guard won’t play any more games for the Illawarra Hawks.

Ball had been out since December 8 with a bone bruise in his foot, and Jackson said that the conclusion from Ball’s most recent visit to the doctor was that he’s “totally healthy,” but would have to train for a further six weeks until he’s ready to play in games.

It took 86 wins last year to make 100k...expenses were 90k.

This Aussie will get it just for losing at the Open and deserves every cent

Lesser souls would have given up.

Would have said stuff this, too hard. Cursed the lack of luck. Cursed the system. Cursed how damn hard it was to get to the biggest occasions of their chosen profession, and packed it all in.

Chris O’Connell is about to get his reward for not being that guy.

He's done it the hard way; battling pneumonia, tendinitis in his knee, overnight buses, hostels, only international gamblers cheering him on in low ranked events.

This wildcard for the Open guarantees O’Connell $90,000. Plenty more if he wins a few. (Fox)

That’s more like it: Ash Barty ‘getting better and better’ to march into Adelaide semifinals

World No.1 Ashleigh Barty has brushed aside any cobwebs and fears about her form with a ruthless Adelaide International quarter-final triumph.

Barty trounced Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-3 6-3 at Memorial Drive on Thursday night in a similar shellacking to last year’s French Open final.

UFC 246: Conor McGregor predicts knockout win over Donald Cerrone in comeback fight

McGregor (1.44) v Donald Cerrone (3.70) - Usually, the fighting Irishman has conducted a world press tour but not this time, following a number of serious allegations being held against the star.

Conor McGregor vowed to "remind everyone" how he "made this game" when he faces Donald Cerrone in his first fight in 15 months on Saturday (US time). “There is no bad blood here but there will be blood spilled"

‘Cowboy’ currently holds the most head-kick knockouts in the entire UFC roster, something that could be a major factor in this bout.

Random stat: McGregor's Proper No Twelve whiskey, shipped over 200,000 cases in its first 6 months and is #1 on Amazon.

Rauf's remarkable rise capped by Pakistan call-up

One of the stars (pun absolutely intended) of BBL this season has been Haris Rauf, brought in to fill a gap for 2 games while everyone waited for Dale Steyn to join the party. Dropped for Steyn after taking 5 wickets in his first match. Rauf roared back with a hat-trick last week, against the Thunder.

Haris Rauf's extraordinary rise has continued after the Melbourne Stars paceman who was playing club cricket in Tasmania only a few weeks ago was picked to play for Pakistan.

Pakistan play Bangladesh in T20s on January 24, 25 and 27, all in Lahore.

Zion Williamson is set to make long-awaited NBA debut

I can't recommend this (7min) Youtube documentary enough...(also check out their Jarvis Landry film, they made).

Zion Williamson's long-awaited NBA debut with the New Orleans Pelicans is just a week away, January 22 against the San Antonio Spurs.

The college phenom was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, but he has been sidelined since October, recovering from a knee injury.

He signed a US$75 million shoe deal before ever playing an NBA game.

We're not just on the ZW bandwagon, we're driving it...All aboard!!

🏉 NRL

Bulldogs set for showdown with NRL cap relief

The Dogs will be told that under the current rule, which was implemented in 2018, the most a club can receive for any player who is ruled out for at least 12 matches after being injured on representative duty is $350,000.

That will be cold comfort for a club that is paying Foran around $1.2 million in the final year of his contract. (Fox)

Latest Fifita rumour could trigger domino effect of moves

Cronulla and the Gold Coast have both played down the latest rumour sweeping the NRL — that Sharks prop Andrew Fifita could be on his way to the Titans to trigger a domino-like effect of player moves ahead of the 2020 season.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday night it had been mooted that the Sharks could be willing to offload Fifita in order to ease their salary cap concerns.

👟 Running

Nike shoes set to be banned after being used in sub-two-hour marathon

The Nike Vaporfly running shoes worn by Eliud Kipchoge for the fastest-ever marathon are set to be banned.

Kenyan Kipchoge donned a prototype, hybrid version of the controversial shoe when he ran the first ever sub-two-hour marathon in Vienna, Austria, last year, The Sun reports.

The problem with the Vaporfly shoes is in the soles, which feature foam and carbon fibre to increase the spring and therefore are thought to help runners push off with every step.(a 4% increase in performance according to a Nike spokesperson).
