So 65 players were selected in the national draft, but opportunities certainly don't end there for prospective AFL players.
We have the pre-season and rookie drafts and of course we also have the supplemental period over the summer which yielded a gem like Sydney Stack this year.
And let's not forget the mid-season rookie draft next year which, in 2019, handed Richmond grand final sensation Marlion Pickett! (theAge)
🏏 Cricket
Australia has named an unchanged team for the second cricket Test against Pakistan.
Australian captain Tim Paine says there's no reason to change the side that trounced the tourists by an innings and five runs in the first Test in Brisbane.
"Obviously we thought we played a pretty good game of cricket last week," Paine told reporters on Thursday.

Steve Smith is many things - but not a tremendous endorsement for the mattress company which has made him a multi-millionaire.
"I'm an awful sleeper," Smith said last August during the Ashes series in England.
"It's all positive stuff - who is bowling at me, where I am going to hit them, how I'm going to play, where I'm going to look to score."
Four years ago, Smith invested a hundred grand for a 10 per cent stake in the then start-up company Koala Mattress.
The mattress firm is now valued at about $150 million, boosting the value of Smith's shares to more than $12 million.

⚽️ Football
Melbourne City owners acquire majority stake in Mumbai City FC, making them the 8th club in the group's network.

The group, who have agreed a deal to take a 65 per cent share of the Indian Super League side, also has majority stakes in New York City in the USA, Melbourne City in Australia, Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, Club Atletico Torque in Uruguay, Girona in Spain and Sichuan Jiuniu in China.
Smart business for the development of the game or the beginning of the end for competitive football?

Raiding the Raiders: UK Super League club pounces to sign Canberra half Aidan Sezer
Aidan Sezer has been granted a release from the Canberra Raiders to join the Huddersfield Giants in the English Super League on a two-year deal.
The star playmaker had one season left on his deal with the 2019 runners-up but he was deemed surplus to requirements and allowed to join the English club. (foxsports)
🏉 Rugby
In case you missed it: Former Parramatta Eels star (where he scored 82 tries in 94 games) Semi Radradra has sensationally turned his back on a blockbuster return to the NRL by signing a lucrative three-year contract in English rugby with Bristol Bears, reported to be worth $2m.
I could watch these highlights all day...
Coach Pat Lam confirmed his new signing will be one of the club’s two permitted marquee players (along with Former New Zealand international full back Charles Piutau) whose wages sit outside of the Gallagher Premiership’s salary cap which has been a hot topic of conversation in the rugby world following Saracen’s being found guilty of breaching the regulations for the last three seasons resulting in a five million pound fine and being docked 35 points.
