❀️ Almost a month after the sudden death of cricket legend Shane Warne at age 52, his contributions on and off the cricket pitch will be publicly celebrated in the heart of Melbourne, at the MCG, in front of tens of thousands of fans today.

Extra tickets have been released and more details have emerged about the high-profile cast of friends who will take part in the public service.

The gates of the MCG are due to open at about 5.30pm for a 7pm start, and the state memorial service is scheduled to run for about two hours.

A stage will be set up on the grounds of the MCG and upwards of 40,000 people are expected to fill the stadium's stands.

The service will feature performances, tributes, and reflections recognising Warne's big personality and charisma as well as his enormous contributions as a cricketer.

β€œElton John, Chris Martin, Robbie Williams, and Ed Sheeran will be singing dedicated songs to Shane Warne in his memory and for this particular night,” McGuire said. Jon Stevens is set to front a band playing a medley of Warne's favourite INXS and Noiseworks songs while Anthony Callea will also sing.

🏏 With just 13 players to pick from and two debutants in their XI, Australia surged to an 88-run win in the first ODI against Pakistan thanks to Travis Head's rapid ton (101 from 72 balls).

Travis Head ended a three-and-a-half-year absence from Australian gold with a starring all-round show to lead the undermanned tourists to a series-opening one-day international victory over Pakistan in Lahore.

Adam Zampa stood tall as the side's most senior bowler, snagging 4-38 from his 10 overs as he became the 18th Australian man to take 100 ODI wickets.

🏏 Ellyse Perry has been ruled out of Australia's 2022 ODI World Cup semi-final against West Indies scheduled for today in Wellington. Meg Lanning confirmed Perry's unavailability and said "unfortunately, just ran out of time to prove her fitness".
