🗞 A Joy to Watch
G'day sports fans,
Classic quote: “I bounced a cricket ball off his cheek and waited for him to fall down. He just carried on chewing gum and hit my next ball for six, 24 rows back.” – Former Australian fast bowler Rodney Hogg talking about Viv Richards.

Smith stars as Aussies soar to ODI series victory

A ton from Steve Smith and half-centuries from a supporting cast meant India were chasing a challenging target of 390 at the SCG. Despite Virat Kohli (89) and KL Rahul (76) weighing in with half-centuries, Australia won the second ODI, taking an unassailable lead in the three-game series, the final game of which will be played in Canberra.
Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell starred, but a groin injury to David Warner overshadowed the 51-run win that completed a 2-0 series victory over India.
India's concerns heading into the ODI series finale at Canberra on Wednesday – then the three-match Dettol T20I Series that precedes the Vodafone Tests starting December 17 – are essentially two-fold.
In posting their second consecutive 300-plus run-chase – this time falling 51 runs short – India have produced 13 individual scores of 20 or more but are yet to celebrate a century.

🤕 Tim Paine and Justin Langer will be crossing their fingers and toes that David Warner’s groin injury is not as bad as it first looked after the Australian opener hobbled off the field on Sunday.
WBBL Final 2020: Sydney Thunder beat Melbourne Stars in final
The Sydney Thunder have claimed their second WBBL title with a comfortable win over the Melbourne Stars, chasing down a miserly target of 87 runs with 38 balls to spare - and capping the victory with a thunderous six over long off that sparked chaotic celebrations.
The Stars won the bat flip and opted to bat first on a sunbaked North Sydney Oval pitch. But the decision backfired as they were pummeled by the Thunder bowling line-up, managing just 9/86 from their 20 overs.
🏏 BBL: Chris Lynn smashed the Sunshine Coast bowling attack to all parts of Oxenham Park, blasting 154 runs, including five fours and, wait for it, 20 sixes off just 55 deliveries for Toombul in a Queensland Premier Cricket, T20 match, at a strike-rate of 338.24. Bring on the BBL.

Perth Glory better than their record suggests, says Shanghai Shenhua’s Choi
Appearing in the premier Asian competition for the first time, Perth have lost all four of their matches to date, leaving them out of Round of 16 contention with two group stage matches still to play.
With so much at stake, Choi declared Perth a better side than their lowly position on the group table indicates.
“If you look at all of their games in isolation, they are not a team which has been completely defeated in any game,” said the former Korea Republic boss.
“They have competed until the last second (in every match) and then been defeated. Still, with Perth Glory, we remain focused on the current situation in our team right now.

AFC Champions League last chance battle
Chiangrai United face Melbourne Victory on Match day Five of the 2020 AFC Champions League Group E, as both sides battle for the last shot at progression to the Round of 16.
Both teams met back in February in the group stage opener with Melbourne Victory taking all three points thanks to a penalty converted by Swedish forward Ola Toivonen.
Nine months and three games later, those three points remain their only in the competition so far.

Diego Maradona: Police raid house and clinic of doctor
Argentine prosecutors are investigating Diego Maradona's doctor for possible manslaughter following the footballing legend's death four days ago.
Police in Buenos Aires have searched the house and private clinic of Leopoldo Luque as they try to establish if there was negligence in Maradona's treatment following surgery.
The 60-year-old died of a heart attack at his home where he was recuperating.
His daughters have pressed for details about their father's medication.
Maradona had a successful operation on a brain blood clot earlier in November and was due to be treated for alcohol dependency.
Dr Luque has stressed that he is co-operating with the authorities and that he had done his best for Maradona until the very end.

All Blacks serve up some sweet revenge after Pumas’ shock victory

The All Blacks served up some much-needed revenge on Argentina for their shock loss two weeks ago, with a thumping 38-0 win in Newcastle.
Dane Coles set the tone after just two minutes as he touched down on the right wing, before a Richie Mo’unga penalty saw New Zealand go in 10-0 up at the break.
Ardie Savea added another moments later before replacement Will Jordan flashed into action with two quick tries before Patrick Tuipulotu rounded out the comprehensive win.
It is the first time Argentina have lost to nil as the All Blacks closed out their Tri Nations on top of the table.

🥊 'Two uncles fighting at a BBQ'

The eight-round exhibition between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Junior took place in LA, with both fighters told to be restrained with knockouts and heavy hitting, ended in a controversial draw, despite Tyson appearing to be on top throughout.
So dominant was the two-time former heavyweight king that many had claimed he had won all eight rounds against Jones, who was exhausted after the final bell rang.
Tyson, on the other hand, looked as though he had barely broken a sweat in comparison and many were left hugely impressed with what they saw at the Staples Center.
“I’m good with that,” says Tyson, who landed 68 of 193 punches (34.7%), compared to 37 of 236 for Jones (15.7%). “The crowd was happy with that.” (Fox)
Women’s soccer player Sarah Fuller makes history as first to play top-level US college football

Sarah Fuller became the first woman to play top-level American college football, alongside potential future NFL players, on Sunday for Vanderbilt University.
Fuller, who was the goalkeeper on the Commodores’ SEC championship-winning soccer team last weekend, was called up to be the kicker for the men’s football team this week.
Games are being cancelled every week and players and close contacts have been forced into quarantine daily. This gave Fuller a chance to make history.
