Australia's chase of 161 was a see-saw on a surface at Chinnaswamy Stadium playing against type with rain a constant threat. The match was on a knife's edge with Australia just failing to score the ten runs needed in the final over.

India 160 for 8 (Iyer 53, Dwarshuis 2-30, Behrendorff 2-38) beat Australia 154 for 8 (McDermott 54, Mukesh 3-32, Bishnoi 2-29) by six runs.

Spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel relished a turning surface in Bengaluru before left-arm quick Arshdeep Singh bowled a superb final over.

🏏 West Australian tearaway Lance Morris has been named in a 14-man Australia Test squad for the first Test against Pakistan in Perth.

Australia Test squad:

The 25-year-old could be in line to make a Test debut after blowing domestic opposition away with his thunderbolt deliveries for Western Australia.

Morris has taken 74 first class wickets in 22 matches, including match figures of 5 for 107 in his last Shield start for WA against South Australia at the WACA last month.

Retiring opener David Warner has also been named in the squad, boosting his hopes of a farewell Test at the SCG in January despite lingering questions over his Test form.

Teagan Levi touched down either side of halftime as Australia ended New Zealand’s 41-match winning streak 21-14 to claim their fourth consecutive title in Dubai. Australia Men’s side went out in the quarter-finals losing 24-7 to NZ.

🇦🇺 Brisbane Lions won the AFLW grand final, beating the Kangaroos 7.2 (44) - 4.3 (27) in a nail-biting encounter.

The Lions stormed home in the final quarter to claim their second premiership in the competition following a victory in 2021.

Ellie Hampson and Dakota Davidson were strong for the Lions, kicking two goals each but it was captain Breanna Koenen who finished with the best on ground award.

🏀 Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton and star Dejan Vasiljevic have hit out at NBL scheduling after a heavy loss on the road to Tasmania, two days after a game in New Zealand. 

The 36ers slumped to a 94-59 defeat — their ninth from 13 starts this season — on Saturday night at Hobart's Derwent Entertainment Centre.

It came after a loss to the New Zealand Breakers in Christchurch on Thursday, the club's first match back from the FIBA break.

🏏 Lancashire have signed Australia Test off-spinner Nathan Lyon for 2024.

The 35-year-old made his return to first-class cricket last month after tearing his calf against England in the second Ashes Test in June.

Lyon, who will be available for all formats, took six wickets in four games during a brief spell in county cricket with Worcestershire in 2017.
