The Socceroos’ World Cup qualification hopes took another massive blow in the early hours after slipping to a 1-1 draw with China in the UAE.

16 years and a handful of hours after the Socceroos ended a 32-year wait for qualification to football’s biggest stage on that iconic night against Uruguay, the Australians are now in severe danger of falling short in their bid for a fifth-straight World Cup appearance.

The Socceroos dominated much of the match before China was awarded a 70th minute penalty following a protracted VAR check.

🥊 19:00 Super Welterweight - Tim Tszyu v Takeshi Inoue(Main Event) - Tszyu and Inoue will likely enter the ring a couple hours later, by around 10pm.

Tszyu has an excellent 19-0 record (with 15 knockouts), while the only blemish on Inoue's 17-1-1 record is a tough loss to Jaime Munguia in 2019 in their WBO light middleweight fight. 

Tim Tszyu has one eye on a world title fight but he needs to pass this test before moving on to bigger and better things. 

🏉 Australia captain Michael Hooper will miss the autumn international against Wales with prop James Slipper taking over the leadership role.

🏆 Australia and New Zealand will play in the re-scheduled 2021 Rugby League World Cup, organisers have confirmed.

The five-week tournament will now take place between 15 October and 19 November next year. 

🎾 Australian tennis legend Todd Woodbridge says Nick Kyrgios "misread the room" when he suggested the Australian Open should be cancelled.

Kyrgios stunned fans earlier today when he suggested the next Grand Slam tournament should be called off due to the impact COVID-19 lockdowns have put on the Victorian population.

"I don't think the Aus Open should go ahead, just for the people in Melbourne, you've got to send a message," Kyrgios said earlier on his No Boundaries podcast.

✍🏼 Gold Coast has re-signed star midfielder Touk Miller to a multi-year deal, making for some positive news after losing Hugh Greenwood due to a botched draft move.

Miller put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the Suns until the end of the 2027 AFL season.

It's been widely reported that the 76ers have grown frustrated with Simmons' inability to work with them regarding his mental health issues, and now it appears it's reached the breaking point. (nine)

⛳️ The PGA Tour heads to one of America’s favourite southern playgrounds for the final official event of 2021.

Sea Island, on the south-eastern coast of Georgia, is home to several PGA Tour players including this week’s tournament host, Davis Love, who grew up in the area.

This is the ninth event of the 2021-2022 wraparound schedule and the 47th full field tournament of the calendar year.

Defending champion: Robert Streb won a battle of former champions when he beat Kevin Kisner on the second hole of sudden death in 2020. Streb had also won the title in 2015 while Kisner was victorious in 2016.
