🐴 This year's Melbourne Cup may lack some of that top-end quality we've seen in recent years, but at the end of the day, the Melbourne Cup is captivating like no other race can be. The field is set and the barrier draw is too!
Caulfield Cup runner up Buckaroo is the favourite ($5.50) and will wear saddlecloth No. 2.
In terms of other winning chances outside of Buckaroo and Vauban, there are eight that will fancy their chances: Kovalica, Land Legend, Onesmoothoperator, Sea King, Interpretation, Okita Soushi, Saint George and Sharp 'N' Smart.
Champion trainer Chris Waller has the most runners with five, while the Ciaron Maher stable have four horses engaged.
There is just a 10 per cent chance of rain, with showers expected at this point either much earlier in the morning or much later in the evening.
⛳️ Cameron Smith shot a final-round 70 to finish the QLD PGA CHampionship to see him in good form for the rest of his Australian run. He ultimately ended up three strokes behind winner Phoenix Campbell, who successfully defended his title by edging out Jak Carter on the second playoff hole after both players were locked at 11-under after 72 holes.
🏃🏾♂️💨 Gout Gout’s star continues to rise after the exciting young sprint prospect ran the fastest 200m by an Australian since 1993 at the Queensland All Schools Track and Field Championships.
The 16-year-old’s time of 20.29s in a heat at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre made him the fourth-fastest Australian over 200m of all time, and the fourth fastest athlete in the world under the age of 18 over the distance.
He does not turn 17 until the end of December.
Usain Bolt, whose world record of 19.19s set at the 2009 World Championships still stands, ran 20.13 when he was the same age as Gout. Australia’s quickest over the distance, Peter Norman, laid down a time of 20.06 at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.
⛳️ icymi last week: Australian golfer Jeff Guan, who has lost sight in his left eye after being hit by a ball at a pro-am tournament, says his "main goal" is to play again professionally.
The incident happened a week after the 20-year-old had made his debut on the PGA Tour.
He was in New South Wales playing the pro-am at Catalina Club - where the unthinkable happened.
Having hit his second shot from the third fairway, Guan turned towards his buggy to put the iron back in his bag.
Guan had surgery in New South Wales and spent two weeks in intensive care after being transferred to Sydney for a second operation.
"That was when I was struck," Guan said.
"I remember I dropped to the floor and I could feel a throbbing pain at the top of the left hand side of my head. I wasn't too sure what it was.
"It was a massive area around the eye and the cheekbone and later I found out it was fractures around the eye.
"Obviously there are going to be many obstacles in the way. But the quicker you can get over them, the stronger you will be.
"I want to play back at the top level professionally. That's the main goal for me."

⚽️ EPL WRAP: Moises Caicedo’s crisp volley gave Chelsea a deserved 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
United’s interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, in charge while the Red Devils await the arrival of newly-appointed Ruben Amorim, looked on course for a second successive victory when Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock from the spot in the 70th minute after Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez brought down Rasmus Hojlund.
Van Nistelrooy celebrated wildly on the touchline but United’s elation lasted only four minutes until Caicedo expertly struck a superb shot past Andre Onana from the edge of the area.

RUUD enjoyed that one!
Dominic Solanke scored twice as Tottenham came from behind to earn a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.
🏎️ Max Verstappen climbed up from 17th on the grid to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, one of his greatest victories taking him to the brink of a fourth world title.
Rival Lando Norris of McLaren had a difficult race, finishing sixth after a couple of key errors, to fall 62 points adrift off Verstappen with 86 still available in the final three races.
Verstappen will become world champion if he leaves the next race at Las Vegas on 23 November with a lead of at least 60 points.
Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly took the final two podium places to transform Alpine’s season and move the team up from ninth in the constructors’ championship to sixth.
A chaotic, incident-strewn, wet race that involved a red flag, two safety car periods and a series of crashes and incidents will be remembered for a victory that was not only Verstappen’s 62nd, but one of the greatest wet-weather victories of all time.
Just as remarkably, it was his first win since the Spanish Grand Prix in June, and it owed everything to a driver at the top of his game, and a team making the right strategic decision at the right time.
🏉 Papua New Guinea withstood an early assault from the Cook Islands to win their Pacific Championships match-up 42-20 at Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The Kumuls now progress to next Sunday's promotion-relegation play-off final against New Zealand at Western Sydney Stadium.
🎾 Germany's Alexander Zverev claimed a straight-set win over home favourite Ugo Humbert to clinch his first Paris Masters title.
The new world number two beat the French number one 6-2 6-2 on Sunday to secure the seventh ATP 1000 title of his career.
Both were playing in their fourth final of the year, with Zverev having lost the French Open final to Carlos Alcaraz in June.
Zverev's semi-final win on Saturday was enough to ensure the 27-year-old will now leapfrog Alcaraz and regain second spot in the ATP rankings.
🏏 icymi: New Zealand sealed a historic 3-0 series clean sweep over India with a thrilling 25-run win on day three of the third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It is India's first clean-sweep defeat in a home Test series since South Africa's 2-0 win in 2000, and their first in a series of three Tests or more.
🏍️ In a thrilling Malaysian Grand Prix, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin engaged in a remarkable three-lap battle, exchanging the lead 11 times. Bagnaia ultimately secured victory, reducing Martin's championship lead to 24 points. Meanwhile, Jack Miller narrowly avoided a serious crash, underscoring the race's intensity.
🏀 Joel Embiid was involved in an altercation with a Philadelphia columnist in the locker room after the 76ers' 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, shouting at him during an exchange of words before eventually shoving him.
"We are aware of reports of an incident in the Sixers locker room this evening and are commencing an investigation," an NBA spokesman said in a statement.
"The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I'm going to do to you and I'm going to have to ... live with the consequences," Embiid said to Hayes.
