🏏 The West Indies fought gallantly on the final day but couldn’t stop Australia from taking a 1-0 lead in the Frank Worrell Trophy with victory in the First Test in Perth.

Led by spinner Nathan Lyon, Australia snared the final seven wickets they needed for the 164-run win on Sunday – with Lyon snaring five of them.

Set an improbable 498 for victory, West Indies captain Kraigg Braithwaite had promised to fight to salvage the Test on the final day.

But the visitors lasted just two sessions as Lyon etched his name further in history, moving to eighth on the all-time Test wickets’ list.

🏉 Australia's all-conquering rugby sevens women have crowned themselves "queens of the desert" after winning the Dubai Sevens for the third year in succession.

🚘 Rookie Broc Feeney outlasted Chaz Mostert to take Holden’s last-ever win at the VALO Adelaide 500.

Feeney became the second full-time rookie in as many years to win a race after Will Brown in Sydney in 2021.

The Red Bull Ampol Racing driver — aged just 20 — also became the second youngest driver to win a race in what Mark Skaife described as a “life-changing day.”

⛳️ It was a horror day for Aussie golfers as they fell over at the final few holes of the Australian Open.

Men's favourite Adam Scott held a share of the lead at the start of the last round, but could not get the job done at the death.

Scott was two shots off Polish player Adrian Meronk when the Aussie shanked his drive on the 17th and had to hit a provisional ball.

Meronk holed an incredible long-range putt for birdie to clinch the victory.

🏏 Australian captain Pat Cummins has refused to rule himself out of the Second Test in Adelaide starting in just four days, despite scans confirming a “small strain” in his quad.

🏃🏼 Brett Robinson made history in Japan on Sunday, breaking the Australian marathon record that had been held by Robert de Castella since 1986.

Robinson was competing in the Fukoka International Marathon and finished the event in two hours seven minutes 31 seconds, surpassing de Castella’s old record of 2:07:51 at the Boston Marathon.

⚽️ Olivier Giroud became France's all-time leading goalscorer as the World Cup holders coasted past Poland to reach the quarter-finals.

The AC Milan striker scored his 52nd goal for France to claim the country's outright record, surpassing the great Thierry Henry.
