🗞 Pretty Blokey

G'day sports fans,

Classic quote: "It’s a pretty blokey magazine [Bacon Busters, ‘Australia’s only magazine dedicated to pig hunting’], but they have women in it too. There’s a ‘Boars and Babes’ section: women in bikinis sitting on big old pigs." - Andrew Symonds

❤️ To a generation of 21st-century cricket fans, Andrew Symonds was a real‑life action hero. He had Superman’s physique, Batman’s mystery, the Hulk’s power, and the Flash’s agility.

Little wonder cricket‑mad kids worshipped him across three decades. With a few swings of his bat, an over of crafty medium pace or off-spin, or a spectacular leap, dive and throw in the field, Symonds could turn a game on its head.

He was a gifted athlete, a born entertainer, and a reluctant celebrity. Most of all, he was a true all‑rounder, on and off the field. The news of his death is tragic. He leaves behind a wife, two children, and a legacy of greatness.

"We are still in shock – I’m just thinking of the two kids," Symonds's wife Laura told The Courier-Mail, after flying from Sydney to Townsville on Sunday morning.

"He was such a big personality and there is just so much of him in his kids."

West Coast players quickly raced to Foley’s aid as he laid prone on the Optus Stadium turf late in the match.

The moment wasn’t the only controversy from the Eagles’ record 74-point loss to Melbourne, with Liam Ryan coming under scrutiny for his bump on Demon Jake Bowey.
