π Race of their lives
G'day spots fans,
Classic Olympic quote: "Tonight, 3 world record holders will dive into the pool. 4 world record holders will climb out."
Duncan Armstrong, in Seoul 1988 prior to winning against all odds, breaking the world record in the process.
He had been asked by a reporter, "Tonight you jump in the pool for the 1500 m against 3 world record holders. So we know 1st, 2nd and 3rd, just not what order they will be in."

π₯ Tally: Gold 1, Silver 1, Bronze 1. Australia got on the board on day two, with three medals added to the tally thanks to our superstar swimmers; and more should be on the way on day three.
All eyes will be on the pool at lunchtime with another three Australian medal chances in day threeβs swimming finals.
The headline act is world champion Ariarne Titmus, who along with compatriot Emily Seebohm heads into the final of the womenβs 400m freestyle against five-time gold medallist and reigning event winner Katie Ledecky.

β½οΈ The Olyroos fought desperately against a superior Spanish side, only for the European powerhouse to finally breach the Australian defence with 10 minutes to spare.
After a shock win against Argentina to open their Olympics campaign, the Olyroos came within touching distance of claiming a hard-fought draw against European heavyweights Spain.
ππΌ World no.1 and gold medal favourite Ash Barty was sensationally dumped out of the Olympics at the hands of unseeded Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain.
π΄π» In heartbreaking scenes, a fist-pumping and cheering Annamiek van Vleuten crossed the line in second thinking she had won gold, with the womenβs road race peleton not realising the reality.
Austrian, Anna Kiesenhofer launched a remarkable solo breakaway, sustaining it - her lungs and legs screaming - to finish more than a minute ahead of 2019 world champion van Vleuten.

π The USAβs horrendous start to its Olympic basketball campaign has continued with a shocking 83-76 loss against France, the powerhouseβs first at the Games since 2004.

πΎ In what will surely be one of the major upsets of these Games, Australia's Max Purcell is through to the second round of the men's singles tennis.
Beating ninth seed, Auger-Aliassime's 6-4, 7-6.
