Transfer Deadline Day

A frantic deadline day on Sunday night brought the number of Australian players moving to Europe to 11 in this transfer window, which is as many as the combined sum of the two seasons prior and the most since 2007.

Adelaide sold defender Lachlan Brook to Championship club Brentford. Midfielder Riley McGree will also be in England's second tier after moving to Birmingham on loan before making a permanent switch to MLS club Charlotte FC next year.

The Reds picked up transfer fees for both, with sources involved in the deal suggesting they stand to receive close to $1million, or about six times the price they paid for McGree a year ago.

Stutt Stakes winner Glenfiddich is out of Saturday’s Group 1

Glenfiddich was one of the leading fancies for the $2 million Caulfield Guineas, but a throat problem has forced the valuable colt’s scratching.

Glenfiddich’s trainer Peter Moody said the son of Fastnet Rock has developed an entrapped epiglottis, which would require minor surgery.

The problem would also rule the colt out of tackling the Cox Plate.

The fate of Aidan O'Brien's latest Spring Carnival challenge is likely to be clearer at the end of the week.

The Irish master’s Australian team was thrown into turmoil after revelations that his horses could have been fed from a contaminated batch of feed before travelling to Australia.

O’Brien withdrew his horses from the rich Prix De l’Arc de Triomphe meeting in France on the weekend after tests revealed the presence of the substance zilpaterol.

Zilpaterol is a substance used in the US to aid cattle growth but can assist with any airway issues in horses. Zilpaterol is legal for use on horses but they cannot race with the drug in their system.

Racing Victoria vets took samples from horses trained by O’Brien and his son Joseph at the Werribee Quarantine Centre on Monday.

🏀NBA Play-offs

The Lakers can take a 3-1 lead in Game 4 (today, 11am AEDT), or the Heat could make this a three-game series moving forward.

Game 4 is often the pivotal game in a series. In the previous 3 occasions the Lakers have been in this position, they’ve won the next two games and the round.

3 things we learned in Game 3:

1. Tyler Herro has some swag: The Miami rookie drove past Rondo for a layup and a foul that put the Heat in front 112-102.

2.It’s time to overestimate Jimmy Butler - The Miami Heat’s supremely confident All-Star wing authored one of the best performances in Finals history - 40 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, 14-of-20 shooting

3. Anthony Davis won’t be the MVP - he scored just 15 points, grabbed five rebounds in game 3.
