πŸ‰ Cameron Munster is STAYING at Storm for life after rejecting a huge Dolphins bid.

The Storm have landed a $4 million recruitment coup by retaining the most in-demand talent on the NRL’s open market in Kangaroos and Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster.

It's been reported that Munster rejected a four-year $5.6 million deal from the NRL’s 17th team to re-sign with the Storm for four more seasons until the end of 2027.

πŸ€ It was a much more locked-in Illawarra Hawks defensively on Thursday night, and the result was their first win of NBL23, beating the South East Melbourne Phoenix 85-72.

The Hawks opened their account with the 13-point win at WIN Entertainment Centre despite a breakout performance for the Phoenix from Junior Madut while they were still missing four critical pieces.

Champion jockey James McDonald says there are three standouts in a Caulfield Guineas lacking depth and he's riding one of them.

🐴 Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel will conduct a race-eve track inspection of a sodden Royal Randwick this morning.

Randwick was rated a heavy 10 late on Thursday after receiving plenty of rain during the day. The forecast is a little more encouraging for today and early Saturday morning.

Van Gestel conceded there are some "obvious concerns" for the 10-race Silver Eagle program on Saturday.

"We will do a track inspection on Friday and have a good look at the surface,'' Van Gestel said.

"It looks like we might have some respite on Friday but there is more rain predicted for Saturday afternoon.

We'll have research punts for 🐴, ⚽️, 🏈, πŸ• picks up over the weekend, but first something to get you going ... FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS:

⚽️ After going 1-0 down, an inspired substitute performance from Marcus Rashford earned Manchester United a nervy Europa League win over Omonia Nicosia. (3-2 final)

⚽️ Substitute Gianluca Scamacca scored the winner against Anderlecht as West Ham recorded a third straight victory in the Europa Conference League. (1-0 final).

⚽️ Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says reports in Spain that Erling Haaland's contract contains a special release clause for him to join Real Madrid in 2024 are "not true".

⛳️ LIV Golf players will not be able to earn world ranking points at upcoming events in Bangkok and Jeddah, Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) has said.

LIV Golf said on Wednesday that it had agreed to a "strategic alliance" with the Middle East and Africa (Mena) Tour to allow its players to earn points.

But OWGR says it received insufficient notice to conduct a review before the series' upcoming October events.

A review of the changes to the Mena Tour is now under way, OWGR confirmed.

🏎 Lewis Hamilton says it is "imperative" that suitable punishments are meted out for any team found to have broken Formula 1's budget cap.

The FIA will reveal on Monday which teams exceeded it last season after delaying the publication.

Hamilton said: "I like to think that if it's being delayed, it's because it's being taken very seriously.

"It would be bad for the sport if action wasn't taken if there was a breach."

Hamilton's Mercedes and Ferrari both said at last weekend's Singapore Grand Prix that it was an open secret that the two teams broke the cost cap last season.

And it is widely expected within the sport that Red Bull and Aston Martin will be found not to have complied in 2021 when the results are published.

Verstappen can win the title this weekend if he wins the race and Sainz doesn't come second.

πŸ€ LeBron James made a personal plea to commissioner Adam Silver, angling to be first in line to own the team if the league ever expands to Sin City.

"I would love to bring a team here at some point. That would be amazing. I know Adam is in Abu Dhabi right now, I believe," "But he probably sees every interview and transcript that comes through from NBA players.

"So, I want the team here, Adam. Thank you."

⚽️ Next month, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be the last of Lionel Messi's storied career.

The 35-year-old Argentina star, who will play in his fifth World Cup (which begins on Nov. 20), is still seeking his first title at the showpiece tournament and admitted he feels nervous ahead of his last appearance on world football's biggest stage.

"There's some anxiety and nerves at the same time. It is the last one," Messi said in an interview with Star Plus.
