World Test Championship final, The Oval (day two of five):

Australia 469 (Head 163, Smith 121; Siraj 4-108)

India 151-5 (Jadeja 48)

India are 318 runs behind

Australia's bowlers put in a thunderous performance to rip through the India top order on day two of the World Test Championship final at The Oval.

In an exhibition of why the Australian pace attack will bring a supreme threat to England's swashbuckling batters in the Ashes, India were reduced to 71-4.

Captain Pat Cummins removed opposite number Rohit Sharma, before Scott Boland, Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc all produced sensational deliveries.

India closed on 151-5, still 318 behind the Australians, who were bowled out for 469 in their first innings.

That represented something of a fightback for India, who took the last seven Australia wickets for 108 runs.

Travis Head was out for 163 and Steve Smith 121 as Mohammed Siraj led the revival with 4-108.

🇦🇺 Match report - St Kilda 12.8 (80) to 9.12 (66) Sydney Swans: They came for Buddy. They witnessed another moment of history at the SCG. But they left disappointed after St Kilda continued marching towards September under Ross Lyon.

On a night where Lance Franklin (1059) moved into fourth spot overall on the all-time goal kicking leaderboard behind only Tony Lockett (1360), Gordon Coventry (1299) and Jason Dunstall (1254), and a night where the Sydney superstar became only the 22nd player in VFL/AFL history to play 350 games, the Saints absorbed everything Sydney had before prevailing by 14 points.

🏉 Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen says suggestions he could be back in 3-4 weeks are “ambitious”, but he’s holding out hope he could return before the NRL finals. (Fox)

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui (57') in all the headlines.

🏉 The Gold Coast Titans bounced back in front of their home crowd to record an important 28-12 win against Wests Tigers to launch Round 15.

Maroons enforcer Tino Fa’asuamaleaui is facing a nervous wait after a forearm on Blues hooker Apisai Koroisau left him with a suspected broken jaw. Fa’asuamaleaui accused the media of building up his ball carrying technique after the match.

❤️ Former Socceroos coach Rale Rasic has been lauded as a “giant” of the game after the football pioneer passed away aged 87.

The Bosnian-born Rasic was the first coach to take Australia to the World Cup finals, in Germany in 1974.

🇦🇺 West Coast will hand mid-season recruit Ryan Maric his AFL debut in Saturday's clash with Adelaide as the Eagles battle an unprecedented injury crisis.

Maric was pick No.1 in last week's rookie draft, and the 18-year-old forward has been rushed into the senior side for the game against the Crows after booting one goal from five disposals for the WAFL Eagles last Sunday.

🏃🏻 Running young gun Ky Robinson has become the first Australian male to win an NCAA title over 10,000 metres, executing a phenomenal surge with just over a lap remaining to clinch victory in his Stanford University singlet on Thursday (AEST).

🦘 Wallabies coach Eddie Jones says he is committed to the national side until the 2027 World Cup, but what happens after this year's tournament in France is out of his hands.

Jones admitted his disappointment at the performance of Australian teams in the Super Rugby Pacific competition. While three sides finished in the top eight, only the Brumbies secured a home quarter-final by finishing in fourth spot.
