🗞 A twenty-year dream realised
G'day sports fans,

🏏 The Gabba will host its first day-night Test match in five years next summer with Cricket Australia unveiling dates and venues for the 2023/24 international summer of cricket.
Eleven venues will host international cricket next summer, with the national men’s and women’s teams facing Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies across seven cities.
The schedule stretches from October 1, when Australia's all-conquering women's outfit kick off the season with an afternoon T20 clash against 2016 World Cup champions West Indies at North Sydney Oval, to the final men's ODI (also against West Indies in Perth) on February 13. (full schedule)
SUNDAY WRAP
🏉 Cronulla held off a fast-finishing Manly side to bounce back from their lacklustre defeat in Magic Round with a 20-14 win at 4 Pines Park on Sunday.
The Sharks led 14-0 via converted tries to Royce Hunt and Sione Katoa before extending the margin to 18 in the second half through Jesse Ramien but the Sea Eagles owned the final quarter to reduce the deficit to six late. (match report)
🏉 A second half blitz led by Kalyn Ponga (MOTM) and Bradman Best (fresh from a trip to Bali) helped guide the Knights to an impressive 46-26 win over the Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Ponga, playing in his first game at McDonald Jones Stadium since July last year, responded to criticism received last month with a try and two try assists as the Knights ran in four tries in 15 minutes to blow the Titans away. (match report)
🇦🇺 Taylor Walker's brilliant five-goal haul has propelled Adelaide to a 52-point trouncing of St Kilda which lifts the Crows into the top eight.
With their 19.7 (121) to 10.9 (69) victory on Sunday at Adelaide Oval, the Crows banked their highest score under fourth-year coach Matthew Nicks.
And the belting is by far the biggest loss in the second coming at the Saints of coach Ross Lyon. (match highlights)
🇦🇺 Collingwood nailed the Mother’s Day brief. Lunch for the players’ mums at the club, a march from the AIA Centre to the MCG, flowers in the rooms before the bounce and, most importantly, four premiership points for the drive home on Sunday night.
Mason Cox saves his best for special days on the calendar - big finals, Anzac Day, Queen's Birthday - and this was almost the pick of the bunch from the American’s 98 games in black and white in the 18.12 (120) to 7.13 (55) win.
🏉 Former Wallabies mentor Michael Cheika has emerged as a shock candidate to replace Dragons coach Anthony Griffin at St George Illawarra next year.
Griffin will reportedly be axed “in a matter of days or weeks” as the club starts “canvasing candidates” to replace him.
📺 The ABC’s two-part documentary about former Wallaby Israel Folau has been rescheduled to air this Thursday 18th at 8pm on the ABC, after it was pulled just days before it was due to be broadcast in November last year.
Directed by Nel Minchin, Folau traces the rise and fall of the rugby union player who ignited a political storm with homophobic tweets posted during the Marriage Equality campaign, which led to his sacking by Rugby Australia in 2019.
“There’s not a single person I interviewed who knew the guy who told me he was a bad guy,” says Minchin.

⚽️ Sam Kerr was Chelsea's match winner yet again as they wrapped up a third successive Women's FA Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in front of a world-record crowd at Wembley Stadium of over 77,000.

I’m locked into the Roosters. I want to come back bigger and better than before. I’ll keep playing reserve grade as long as it takes… There have been plenty of rumours. The best one was me meeting Wayne. I can tell you I’m not going anywhere.
🐴 Australia's best sprinter, Giga Kick, has already changed the life of Clayton Douglas, but the two-time Group 1 winner could take him to places he never imagined in the spring, with a $25m fortnight being mapped out.
Saturday's Doomben 10,000 winner justified his long odds-on quote and will stay in Queensland to spell over the next month before returning to Douglas' stables in Victoria to begin his The Everest defence in Sydney.
The former jumps jockey revealed plans to step up to 1500m a fortnight after The Everest with a crack at the $10m Golden Eagle is on the cards.
🥊 The third time was a charm for Jason Moloney.
A twenty-year dream was realised by the veteran bantamweight from Australia, who claimed the vacant WBO title with a twelve-round, majority decision win over Vincent Astrolabio. Judge Tom Carusone (114-114) had the bout even, overruled by judges Robert Hoyle (115-113) and Zachary Young (116-112) who scored for Moloney to give him a title win on his third try at Stockton Arena in Stockton, California. ⚽️ Arsenal's fading title hopes were dealt a devastating blow after losing to Brighton to leave leaders Manchester City one win from a fifth Premier League title in six seasons.
The Gunners needed to respond after City's 3-0 win over Everton earlier on Sunday left Mikel Arteta's side trailing by four points in the race for the title.
City will win the Premier League title next Sunday in front of their own fans if they beat Chelsea at home, even if Arsenal defeat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday. However, City will be confirmed champions without playing on Saturday if the Gunners lose at Forest.

🏉 Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield stopped short of the finish at the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to carry his friend over the line.
The event named after former Leeds Rhinos star Burrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019, saw more than 12,000 people take part.
It was inspired by Sinfield, who pushed his former team-mate around the course in a specially-adapted wheelchair.
He then lifted Burrow up and carried him, to the delight of spectators.
