Australian Open: Serena Williams beats Simona Halep & will face Naomi Osaka in semi-final
Serena Williams produced a stunning performance to beat second seed Simona Halep and set up an Australian Open semi-final with Naomi Osaka.
The 39-year-old American, bidding for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title, won 6-3 6-3 against the Romanian.
"I think this is the best match I played this tournament," said Williams, who moved well and hit 24 winners.
Earlier on Tuesday, Osaka cruised past Hsieh Su-wei in just 66 minutes to reach the last four.
The Japanese third seed, who won the second of her three Grand Slam titles at Melbourne Park in 2019, beat the Taiwanese 6-2 6-2.

Enthaar draws wide in G1 Blue Diamond Stakes
Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) favourite Enthaar has drifted from $2.10 out to $2.30 with TAB after drawing barrier 14 in the 16-horse field.
Second-favourite Anamoe also drew out in the $1.5 million juvenile feature, coming up with barrier 15.
General Beau's price has been trimmed from $11 into $9 after drawing perfectly in barrier three.
Anamoe's stablemates Ingratiating and Arcaded will jump from gates seven and one respectively.
The Alderson-trained Jigsaw drew wide and covered additional ground in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) but has drawn far more favourably in barrier four on Saturday. (Punters)

Aussie Ben Simmons scores career-high, but countryman Joe Ingles' Jazz take the win
Jordan Clarkson scored a season-high 40 points to power the streaking Utah Jazz past the Philadelphia 76ers 134-123 in a matchup of conference leaders Monday night despite a career-best 42 points from Australia's Ben Simmons.
Not only was it his own personal best, it was the most- ever points scored by an Australian in an NBA game, surpassing Aron Baynes' mark of 37. Their countryman Joe Ingles added 20 points in this game for the Jazz.

LeBron James has no doubt he could have made an NFL roster in 2011
LeBron James previously has said he had begun training for football during the 2011 NBA lockout and was serious about a try-out with the Cowboys.
James revealed in a recent interview with TheAthletic.com that the Seahawks also offered him a chance to tryout in 2011, and he βseriously consideredβ playing football.
βI would have made the team,β James told TheAthletic.com. βI would have tried out, but I would have made the team.
βI just know what Iβm capable of doing on the football field. Especially at that age.β
James was 26 at the time, though he had not played football since his junior year of high school.
He starred as a receiver in high school, receiving interest from Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Florida, among others.
